Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Hits Venezuela - USGS

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred 18 kilometers from the city of Araya near the coast of Venezuela, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of only 5.9 kilometers, at sea, over 200 kilometers from the capital of the Latin American country, Caracas, at around 18:05 UTC.

Earlier on Monday, a 4.2 magnitude quake jolted Trinidad and Tobago as well as the island of Grenada. There were no reports of injuries or damage. The quake was reportedly felt 102 kilometers north west of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and 119 kilometers south west of St. George’s in Grenada.
