A Russian Su-27 fighter escorted a United States B-52H bomber that approached the Russian border on 19 October, the Russian Defence Ministry revealed on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the Russian jet was shadowing a US bomber at a distance of 70 kilometres before returning to its base in Crimea upon completion of the task.
According to Saturday's tweet by the monitoring site PlaneRadar, one of the aircraft carried out a bombing simulation near Crimea.
Russia has repeatedly condemned US military drills in the vicinity of the Russian border, saying that it creates additional tensions. The Russian Defence Ministry has urged Washington to refrain from such exercises; however, the Pentagon has rejected Moscow's calls.
