British police were earlier reported to have rushed to Buckingham Palace in order to investigate a "suspicious" car abandoned outside the gates. Police were said to be closing nearby roads after receiving unconfirmed reports of a bomb.

According to eyewitness reports shared on Twitter, police were shouting at people to move away from the palace and a section of The Mall nearby. Some claimed that around 50 policemen were present at the scene.

The incident at Buckingham Palace has been "stood down", according to reports by British police. Nothing suspicious has been found so far.

Buckingham Palace is a popular tourist attraction and also the residence of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

Two weeks ago, London's Vauxhall Bridge was also shut down as law enforcement investigated another vehicle that had been abandoned – just yards away from the MI6 headquarters. No arrests were made following the incident, according to police reports.
