Researchers have re-created an atomic blast near St. Petersburg in order to test paddle doors simulating the Russian Strategic Missile Forces reinforced HQ.

The force of the explosion was equivalent to 200 kilogrammes (over 440 pounds) of TNT. In recreating the nuclear blast, a 4-tonne door had to endure it without any critical damage. According to military engineers, the structure of the door and its load-bearing elements remained solid and were not affected by the blast wave.
