The Caribbean island nation of Puerto Rico was struck by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake this morning, US Geological Survey said Tuesday.
The epicentre was located 5 kilometres south-west of Tallaboa and at a depth of 10 kilometres, according to the report.
There have been no immediate reports about casualties caused by the earthquake. However, a tsunami alert was issued for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Puerto Rico's Electric Power Authority has also reported an island-wide power outage.
