At Least One Reported Dead, Four Injured Following Explosion in Spanish Tarragona Province

The Catalan Civil Defence Agency has advised people living close to the affected area to stay inside until the extent of the chemical accident is known.

An explosion and fire have been reported at a chemical plant in Spain's Tarragona province. According to El Mundo, at least one person died as a result of the explosion. Four people were injured, one in critical condition, the local civil defence agency said.

The Catalan Civil Defence Agency has advised people in nearby areas to stay indoors until further notice. 

People in the following areas have been told to close their doors and windows.

​According to the agency, no toxic level increase has been registered.

Meanwhile, local residents have been sharing photos and videos of the aftermath of the explosion online.​
