The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday that the coronavirus pandemic has exposed the shortcomings of the global health system.
According to ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, China is calling on the international community to prioritise public health security.
China has reported nearly 81,000 cases of infection with 3,237 deaths so far, while the total number of people with the virus worldwide stands at nearly 200,000 with a total of 8,000 fatalities.
China, Italy, Iran, and Spain remain the countries hit hardest by the deadly infection.
