Users across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia have been reporting problems in accessing Twitter on Saturday. Some suggest that the troubles with the social network could be the result of a data-sharing settings update.

New data-sharing settings appear to be incorporating sharing some non-public user data with "our partners". The settings only apply in specific regions and for specific partners, the Twitter Help Centre claims. User ability to control mobile app advertising measurements has been removed.

The problems seem to be occuring often in recent days as new settings are implemented. Users have been experiencing trouble trying to open the app and pass a pop-up urging them to accept the settings.
