Spain's coronavirus death toll rose to 16,972 on Sunday from 16,353 on Saturday, the country's health ministry said.
According to the ministry, 619 people have died in the past 24 hours which marks the highest daily death toll from COVID-19 in the past three days.
Spain has been one of the worst-affected countries by the coronavirus pandemic.
Globally, the death toll from coronavirus currently stands at 99,887, while the total number of confirmed cases has exceeded 1.6 million, the WHO says.
