Russian Minister of Construction, His Deputy Tested Positive for COVID-19

So far, Russia has registered 114,431 COVID-19 cases, 1,169 deaths, and 13,220 recoveries, according to Rospotrebnadzor.

Russian Minister of Construction Industry, Housing, and Utilities Vladimir Yakushev has been hospitalised after testing positive for the coronavirus, the ministry’s press service said in a statement.

Deputy Minister Dmitry Volkov has also been tested positive for COVID-19, according to the statement.

Nikita Stasishin has been appointed as acting minister.

On 30 April, Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, 54, said he had tested positive for the virus and was self-isolating.

Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov has been appointed as his temporary replacement. 

The World Health Organisation declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on 11 March. To date, more than 3.2 million people have been infected with the virus worldwide, with over 232,000 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University.
