Toronto police are treating the February erotic spa parlour attack as an act of terrorism inspired by the incel ideology, Global News reports.
The attack in question took place on 24 February at a massage parlour in Toronto; one woman was killed and a man was injured. The attacker, a minor, was arrested and is facing murder charges.
According to the media outlet, the police unearthed sufficient evidence to update the status of the case from "murder" to "terrorist activity".
The incel movement, which the police believe inspired the criminal to commit the act, is comprised of self-identified "involuntary celibates" - a subculture who regard themselves as unable to find a romantic or sexual relationship despite being willing to have it. Many of the followers of this ideology also believe that they are entitled to have sex and blame women for their celibacy.
