Former US vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden, has asked Senator Amy Klobuchar to undergo vetting to be considered his running mate in the upcoming election, a CBS News correspondent tweeted on Thursday, citing sources.

Amy Klobuchar, the senior US Senator from Minnesota, announced her candidacy for the US presidency in February 2019, but suspended her campaign in March 2020, endorsing Joe Biden.

The vetting process she was allegedly asked to undergo will reportedly include exploring her public and private life along with an analysis of her speeches, tax returns and any and all details of her life history and her family.

The question of who will be Biden's campaign mate has resulted in hints about several possible candidates, such as Kamala Harris, purportedly a "front-runner" for the Biden ticket, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, Catherine Cortez Masto and many others. Some media reports claim that Biden has over "a dozen options" to explore

Earlier in the Democratic debates, Biden vowed to select a woman to be his running mate, saying that "there are a number of women who are qualified to be president tomorrow".
