One person was killed and eight people were rescued following a fire at an apartment in a nine-storey building in the south of Moscow, a spokesperson for the emergency services said.
"After a fire was contained at an apartment on the fourth floor of the nine-storey building in Dorozhnaya street, an explosion took place," the spokesperson said.
Windows on the fifth floor were blown out by the explosion. The cause of it is being investigated, he added.
