The seventh-wealthiest man in Russia Roman Abramovich didn't purchase Edvard Munch's "The Scream", a source close to the billionaire told Sputnik. According to the source, the reports were not consistent with the facts.
Russian media outlets previously reported, citing Telegram channel Sotheby's life, that Abramovich was the unnamed collector who had bought one of the four versions of the painting by the Norwegian expressionist at Sotheby's for $120 million.
The auction house, however, later dismissed the report, adding that the painting had been auctioned in 2012. The identity of the collector remained concealed, however, according to reports by The Wall Street Journal in 2012, the masterpiece was purchased by American investor and art collector Leon Black.
