Thousands of demonstrators started to gather at Victors Avenue in central Minsk, with barricades erected in the area.
Shortly thereafter, local police officers equipped with riot gear lined up and began to push the protesters out of the Avenue. Two water cannon vehicles moving ahead of the police column also periodically doused the protesters with water.
