Several Russian diplomats are being expelled from Slovakia on suspicion of espionage, Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing an unnamed official.

The decision was made last week by the new administration of Prime Minister Igor Matovic, he said. According to the agency, the diplomats will have time until the end of the week to leave the country.

Slovakia's Foreign Ministry has confirmed the expulsion of three Russian diplomats, Reuters said.

While the Russian Embassy in Slovakia said it will not comment on reports about the expulsion of Russian diplomats over alleged espionage, the Russian Foreign Ministry has vowed symmetrical response to the expulsion of the diplomats.

"Traditionally, mirror response will follow," the ministry said.
