4.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Jammu and Kashmir

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

According to India’s National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck the Jammu and Kashmir union territory at 12.02 pm.

However, there was no immediate report of any damage to property or loss of life.

As per the seismology site, the quake had a depth of 10-km and occurred 73-kilometre north-northwest of Gulmarg town, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Kashmir news website, the tremors caused panic, prompting several local residents to rush out of their houses.

The latest quake came days after 3.6 magnitude earthquake which occurred in the union territory on 22 September.
