Like nearly elsewhere in Europe, Poland was faced with a resurgence of COVID-19 in the fall. On Wednesday, the Polish health authorities reported an all-time high of 674 new coronavirus-related deaths over the course of 24 hours.

In turn, Germany, which has registered nearly 1 million COVID-19 cases so far, has prolonged its coronavirus restrictions until 20 December. Contact limitations and restrictions for restaurants and hotels are likely to be in place until January.
