The Israel Defence Forces have denied reports by Al Mayadeen of a blast hitting Israeli soldiers during a border patrol mission.

According to the TV broadcaster, a blast has wounded several Israeli servicemen patrolling near the Lebanese border. The explosion took place near the settlement of Maskafam adjacent to the town of Adaisse, Al Mayadeen reported, noting that an ambulance was spotted in the area after the blast.

Israel Denies Reports of Explosion Hitting IDF Patrol on Lebanese Border

The usually uneasy relations between Israel and Lebanon further soured this year in the wake of a drone attack against a Hezbollah media office in Beirut, which the organisation blamed on Israel. The flare-up led to intense clashes along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Both countries have territorial claims on each other, as Beirut believes the IDF have occupied southern Lebanon, while Israel considers the Lebanese group Hezbollah a terrorist organisation. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon is still deployed in the region to ensure peace.
