Three Killed, One Injured After a Piper Plane Crashes Outside St. Petersburg

The private plane crashed during take-off in the Lomonosovsky district in the Leningrad region, media reported, citing a source familiar with the circumstances of the accident.

Three people were killed and one more injured when a private Piper light-engine aircraft crashed outside Saint Petersburg after take-off, the local healthcare committee officials said.

According to some reports, a child survived the crash. 

Photos showing the alleged scene of the crash have emerged online. The tweet reads "a light-engine Piper plane crashed at an airfield outside St. Petersburg, three people were on board."

According to the local prosecutor's office, the crashed Piper plane had collided with a Cessna plane, both aircraft were carrying out training flights. There were no passengers on board the Cessna plane and its pilot managed to land with minor damage to the aircraft. 

An investigation into the accident is underway.
