5.5-Magnitude Quake Hits Papua New Guinea, USGS Says

According to seismologists, the quake occurred at a depth of 53.4 km.

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake has hit the eastern part of Papua New Guinea, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicentre of the quake was 37 km north of the town of Finschhafen and was registered at 16:58 UTC, the USGS added.

No injuries or damage has so far been reported.
