Priti Patel Answers Questions in House of Commons Amid Bristol Protests

Since last week, people in Bristol have been gathering for rallies to protest against a proposed policing bill to expand police powers to restrict demonstrations. The protests turned violent and resulted in multiple hospitalisations.

Sputnik is live from London, UK where the country’s secretary of state for the Home Department Priti Patel is facing members of Parliament in the House of Commons to answer questions about the recent protests in Bristol.

People took to the streets of the city in the southwest of England last night for a "Kill the Bill" demonstration against a new police and sentencing bill that would increase the police’s powers to combat peaceful protests.

Earlier in the day, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the latest protests in Bristol were unacceptable.
