One Person Killed, Seven More Injured as Blast Occurs in Syria's Damascus, State Media Report

According to preliminary reports, it was not an intentional act, as the cause of the explosion was allegedly the careless handling of a grenade.

A blast has been heard in Rukn al-Din district in northern Damascus, the Syrian state-run news agency, SANA, reported on Wednesday.

According to SANA, citing the country's Ministry of Interior, at least one person was killed and seven more passers-by were injured in the blast. They were provided medical help.

The person who died is said to be the one in possession of the bomb, which, reportedly, exploded by accident.

An investigation has been opened into the matter.
