The Saudi-led military coalition fighting in Yemen said it destroyed a ballistic rocket launched by the armed Houthi political opposition faction towards the southern Saudi city of Jazan, state TV reported on Friday.

Yemen's Houthis said earlier in the day that they had launched an armed drone at a "sensitive site" toward Abha airport, located in southern part of the kingdom. The weapon reportedly hit the target.

Coalition forces report Houthi attacks for the fourth consecutive day. Previous strikes allegedly conducted by the Houthis include launching explosive-laden drones.

Military operations continue Yemen amid persistent tensions between the forces of the nation's government in exile and the Houthis, who demand wider autonomy and better representation in government. The president-in-exile, Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, asked Saudi Arabia for military support, and Riyadh and its coalition entered the war in 2015.
