People are gathering for a candlelight vigil at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday, one year after his death in police custody.
The vigil will end a day of commemorating Floyd's life and will take place at the exact spot where the 46-year-old was killed.
A trial determined "beyond reasonable doubt" that ex-officer Chauvin's actions violated police rules of engagement and became a major factor in Floyd's death. He was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in April, potentially facing up to 75 years in jail. Three other retired officers will also stand trial in this case.
