A man has opened fire, wounding two police officers in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. According to the authorities, one officer was injured in his hand, while another man, a civilian, received a head wound.
The suspect tried to set his apartment on fire, but was detained, Ukraina-24 broadcaster reported.
"In Kiev, on Goloseevsky Prospekt, a man is shooting at police officers", the broadcaster Magnolia TV said on its Facebook page. "Previously, we managed to find out that this all happened because of a court decision, as someone was allegedly trying to take away his apartment... He called the police and said there was a threat to his life, and started shooting from a window. According to preliminary information, two police officers were injured", a correspondent said.
The broadcaster managed to contact the suspect via phone, but he said he can't open the door, as police are hammering it in right now, and said that his lawyers had arrived at the scene.
"They [police] are storming [the apartment] right now. I'd like them to stop. My lawyers have arrived, talk to the lawyers", he said.
