Sputnik is live from East Jerusalem, where Palestinians are protesting against the eviction of families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood. The development comes as the Israeli High Court is expected to have a hearing on the issue on 2 August. The lower courts have already given the green light for the evictions.
The issue has drawn international attention since protests in May led to clashes with Israeli police and sparked 11 days of hostilities between Israeli forces and Hamas militants, the worst violence in years. More than 250 Palestinians were killed, including 100 women and children, while more than 2,000 were wounded. Thirteen people were killed in Israel in rocket strikes, including two women.
