Putin and Merkel Hold Joint Press Conference After Bilateral Talks in Moscow

Putin and Merkel have been working together since 2005, when she became Germany's Chancellor. Today's visit to Moscow will be Merkel's last as Chancellor since she is stepping down next month.

Sputnik goes live from Moscow, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are holding a joint press conference after bilateral talks on Friday, 20 August.
The two leaders met earlier in the day to discuss the most pressing issues of regional and international politics, including the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, the situation in Ukraine and Belarus.
This is Merkel's last visit to Moscow as Germany's Chancellor as she is leaving her post in September after leading the country's political scene since 2005.
