On Saturday morning, three American tourists were found dead in a luxury Bahamas resort, with a fourth airlifted to a hospital, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
The three deceased, a man and a couple, were found in their villas at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort, located on the seashore of Exuma district. Their names haven’t been disclosed.
The couple was said to have signs of convulsion, but no trauma, according to police. They had both complained of feeling sick the previous night but had returned to their villa after being treated at a local clinic. The night before their death, it was suggested that the guests be airlifted from the island, but they refused.
The bodies are awaiting autopsy, and there is no official report on the cause of death.
According to Michael Darville, the Bahamas health minister, all three guests suffered from nausea and vomiting, the New York Post reported.
He said that he traveled to the resort to determine if there was a public health emergency that necessitated a “makeshift facility, a mini hospital,” be built. Fortunately, such drastic measures were not deemed necessary, and it was determined to be an “isolated situation that revolves around four people.”
