A new study carried out by a group of archaeologists led by Vincent Mourre of the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail in France has found that the stone toolmaking method, called pressure flaking, was invented 55,000 years earlier than thought, the Science magazine said.
Scientists in this article describe stone tools with sharp edges were used as spearheads and blades of stone knives. They are distinguished by the silica-rich material and the special technique of processing the material.
