U.S. scientists have warned that the amount of rubbish orbiting Earth has reached a tipping point.

A report by NASA says the growing amount of orbital debris including minuscule fragments, old rocket boosters and satellites present an “increasing hazard to spacecraft and astronauts.”

The report says international regulations are in order to limit the amount of space junk, which orbits Earth at speeds of up to 28,164 km/h.
