Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the lack of meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump results in tensions and noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to continue a dialogue with President Donald Trump.
"The thing is that the it was President Trump who decided to postpone the coordinated meeting. Of course, we are a rather patient country. And we are, of course, waiting for the necessary conditions for the next change of the [US] president's decision to get ripe," Peskov told reporters when asked if Russia will initiate contacts with the US president.
"There was a handshake. It is absolutely unimportant if they have greeted each other or not. It is a secondary issue which should not be a point of concern. What is important is that the two presidents should have met," Peskov told reporters.
"The meeting with Trump should be planned by both sides. It cannot be planned by only one side," Peskov added. "Putin is ready to continue the dialogue against all the odds," Peskov noted.

Meanwhile, a source familiar with the matter reported that Putin may still hold talks with Trump on sidelines of the summit, noting that the US side should initiate the meeting for that.
"A reception and a concert will be held later today. They may have a conversation there. But it is the US side that should initiate this," the source said.
Kremlin aide, Yury Ushakov, told Sputnik that Trump's cancellation of the meeting fails to contribute to the constructive development of bilateral relations, adding that the two leaders had planned to discuss the current deadlock in relations at their meeting.
