"An alert about a production incident in an ammonia facility at Uralchem's branch of Azot in the city of Berezniki has been received. Three people have been killed", a representative of the emergency services said.
The incident occurred during maintenance work, the representative added.
According to the emergency services, there is no threat to the staff or the city’s residents.

The local health department has assessed the condition of an injured employee as moderately severe.
Some thirty people and ten rescue vehicle have been involved in liquidating the aftermath of the accident.

Uralchem's press service has reported that the company has created its own internal investigation unit to establish what happened and who is responsible.
