The security measures at the city's Manezhnaya Square were boosted due to calls for unauthorized protests on social networks after a court in Moscow sentenced Navalny to 3.5 years in prison in a financial misdemeanor case.

People have started to gather in central Moscow following a court ruling on Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny.

According to a Sputnik correspondent, the Moscow police started detaining people at the city's Manezhnaya Square. Per the police's orders, the subway stations of Okhotniy Ryad, Ploschad Revolyutsii, and Aleksandrovskiy Sad are shut down until further notice.
