MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian Investigative Committee opened a new criminal case against allies of jailed opposition activist Alexey Navalny, Leonid Volkov and Ivan Zhdanov, accusing them of sponsoring extremist organisations, committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"A criminal case was initiated against Leonid Volkov, Ivan Zhdanov and other persons. They are suspected of committing the crime 'Raising funds and providing financial services, knowingly intended to finance an extremist organisation'," Petrenko said.
