A massive explosion has hit the Hoover Dam in Nevada, with fire and plumes of black smoke seen in a video making the rounds online.The smoke is apparently rising from the turbine house on the Arizona side of the Colorado River, at the foot of the 726-foot tall dam. The exact cause and circumstances were not immediately known.According to the US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), the fire at the Hoover Dam caused no injuries to either visitors or employees, with power still being generated from the powerhouse. The bureau pointed out that it is still investigating the cause of the fire and will provide additional updates as they become available.Earlier in the day, the city of Boulder announced that Boulder City Fire Department personnel arrived at the Hoover Dam in the US state of Nevada amid a reported explosion and fire there. The city later said via social media that the fire had been extinguished before the Boulder City Fire Department arrived at the scene.The Hoover Dam is in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the states of Nevada and Arizona. The dam’s generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California.
