14:54 GMT 09.09.2022 (Updated: 20:56 GMT 19.10.2022) BERLIN (Sputnik) - The lawmaker from the German Left party, Gregor Gysi, said on Friday that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could be resolved through negotiations, and attempts to defeat the Russian side could lead to a third world war.
"Militarily, Russia cannot be defeated, if we try, it will lead to a third world war, we cannot allow it," Gysi told German newspaper Spiegel.
Gysi noted that "Ukraine has the right to defense," but the parties should engage in negotiations.
"It [Ukraine] will not be able to win," Gysi added.
