From north to south, India has been battered by incessant rain since last weekend. Many have lost their life and crops have been flattened in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. An alert has been sounded in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
India is reeling under the impact of heavy showers over the past few days, with floods wreaking havoc across several states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that there is likely to be a fresh spate of moderate to heavy showers in the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana on Tuesday.
Uttar Pradesh

The situation is particularly grim in Uttar Pradesh, where 20 people have died in rain-related incidents since Friday and around another 850,000 have been affected in the state.

After nine people were killed in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, another 11 died in the heavy deluge on Monday. Seven were killed by lightning in the Jhansi district, and two others were swept away by the rising waters of the Rapti River in Balrampur.
Delhi

According to weather data, Delhi came under 121.7mm of rain between 1 and 10 October 1 - the city's second-highest level for the month in the past 16 years.
Although no deaths have been reported from the city, several low-lying areas around the Yamuna River have been submerged, and people living in these places have been moved to safer places.
Tamil Nadu, Telangana

The southern states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana are expected to receive heavy rains along with thunderstorms for the next five days after a cyclonic formation in the region.

On Tuesday, schools were shut in the Tirupathur area and adjoining districts in Tamil Nadu because there was a threat of heavy showers.
