Corbyn's Approval Rating Lowest Since May 2017 - Poll

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The approval rating of Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of UK Labour party, fell to the lowest level since May 2017, standing now at 22 percent, a poll showed Friday.

Only 22 percent of UK residents back Corbyn's candidature for the post of prime minister, while 36 percent support current head of the government Theresa May, the YouGov survey showed.

A week ago, 32 percent supported May, while 25 thought Corbyn would make the best prime minister.

The popularity slump comes amid persistent allegations of anti-Semitism within the Labour party.

The survey was carried out on August 8-9 among 1,675 adults.
