Eurosceptic Tory Faction to Vote Down PM May's Withdrawal Agreement - Reports

Theresa May has made a "final offer" to Jeremy Corbyn on Brexit, accepting Cabinet demands to prop up efforts to take Britain out of the EU. The PM is expected to put the withdrawal agreement to a vote in the week beginning June 3 in a bid to secure Brexit.

The European Research Group, a Eurosceptic faction within the UK's Conservative Party, is set to vote down Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit agreement in the upcoming parliamentary vote next month.

A Tory lawmaker and former Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Owen Paterson, told the BBC that the faction intends to vote against the deal again citing the lack of substantial changes to the agreement. According to the official, it is unacceptable that the UK will wind up with laws imposed on it by 27 different countries.

Paterson also added that the Democratic Unionist Party, which backs May's party, had raised fears that Northern Ireland would align more closely with the European bloc than the rest of the UK.

The statement comes as British Prime Minister Theresa May is set to present a Withdrawal Agreement Bill to lawmakers once more before the summer parliamentary recess.

The United Kingdom was originally supposed to leave the European Union on 29 March. Brussels and London have agreed on a withdrawal deal, but UK lawmakers have blocked the agreement.

The Brexit deadline was subsequently postponed to 31 October with London obliged to participate in the European Parliament elections if the deal is not passed by 23 May.
