Russia Hits Ukrainian Airfields Where Ukraine Wants to Station Western Aircraft - MoD

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian armed forces launched a group strike targeting Ukrainian airfields where Kiev plans to station Western-supplied aircraft, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Thursday.

"This morning, the Russian armed forces launched a group strike with long-range sea-based precision weapons, the Kinzhal airborne hypersonic missile, and unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine's airfield infrastructure planned to station aircraft from Western countries," the MoD said in a statement, adding that all targets were hit.
In addition, Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr repelled six Ukrainian counterattacks in the past 24 hours, and Kiev’s losses in clashes amounted to 345 soldiers, according to the ministry.

"The Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 585 servicemen, four vehicles, a 155 mm US-made M777 howitzer, a 152 mm D-20 howitzer, a 122 mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and a 122 mm D-30 howitzer [in clashes with Russia’s Battlegroup Zapad," the ministry noted, adding that Ukraine also lost over 640 soldiers in clashes with Battlegroup Yug and up to 190 soldiers in battles with Battlegroup Sever.
