MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) – Two teenagers from a village in Russia’s Siberian Republic of Yakutia were each sentenced on Friday to four-year terms in a high security prison for beating a policeman to death.

According to investigators, in 2006 a group of three teenagers were misbehaving in public and a local policeman passing by made a remark.

“The teenagers reacted inadequately and attacked the policeman punching and kicking him, as well as hitting him with a metal rod and a wooden stick,” the local investigation committee said in a statement adding that the beaten policeman later died in an intensive care.

The court ruled that two teenagers born in 1990 and 1991 will be serving each four-year terms in a high security prison. The third teenager involved in the attack committed a suicide in a pre-trial detention center.
