KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko introduced a decree Thursday to dismiss Ukrainian Security Service head Valentin Nalivaychenko, the Ukrainian parliament website said.
Nalivaychenko was questioned by the country's prosecutors after he accused Deputy Attorney General Anatoly Danylenko of covering an oil depot fire near Kiev. The Ukrainian media branded the situation a confrontation between the country's general prosecutor's office and the security services.
The fire that first broke out on June 8 at the BRSM-Nafta oil depot about 19 miles from Kiev had been blazing over a week despite the Ukrainian State Emergency Service's constant attempts to put it out.
Several causes of the fire, including a technical failure during work with petroleum products, are being considered by the investigation team.
