The new Russian partially reusable manned spacecraft was designed to replace both the Soyuz-series manned spacecraft and Progress-series cargo unmanned spacecraft. It is an element of the Advanced Manned Cargo System (PPTS), which is also intended to be used for space flights to the Moon.
