JAKARTA, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russian arms and military equipment are attracting interest at the Indo Defence 2012 Expo & Forum exhibition that opened on Wednesday in Indonesia, the head of the Russian delegation said.

“By tradition the Russian Federation participates in this exhibition and I believe that its results will be good this year as well,” said Mikhail Petukhov, who is also head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.

Indo Defence will run through November 10, 2012. This year's exhibition, the fifth in the series, will host over 500 exhibitors from 40 countries and 20,000 delegates and trade visitors, the organizers said.

The exhibition will provide “a platform for international defense industry to showcase a full range of military products and technology to meet the increasing demand of the local defense industry,” exhibition organizers said.

Russia’s state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport will offer its Asia-Pacific partners joint projects in arms development, manufacturing under license and modernization of arms and military equipment.

“This approach assumes technology transfers, which is especially important for Indonesia today,” Rosobornexport Deputy General Director Viktor Komardin said.

The company expects special interest will be shown in Russian antiaircraft systems such as Buk-M2E, Pantsir-S1, and Igla-S, as well as a concept for an integrated antiaircraft system.

Air-defense missile systems manufacturer Almaz-Antei views Southeast Asia in general and Indonesia in particular as a priority market, Rosoboronexport representative Yury Baikov said.

The Russian manufacturer will showcase ground based Buk-M2E and Tor-M2E missile defense systems, Kasta and Gamma air defense radars and sea-based antiaircraft missile systems.
