The fifth-generation Sukhoi PAK FA fighter jet, also known as the T-50 by the name of its prototype, is a stealthy, single-seat, twin-engine fighting aircraft slated to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 multirole air superiority fighters. Come along as Sputnik shares some of the best photos of this majestic bird.
The PAK FA made its first place on January 29, 2010 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and was first displayed to the public on August 2011 at the MAKS-2011 International Aviation and Space Salon.
Ongoing testing of the PAK FA has been successful thus far, and the prospective fighter will begin to enter service in 2017. According to military officials, the aircraft fully conforms to the requirements of the Russian Air Force.

According to retired colonel and military expert Viktor Baranets, the T-50 has many unique characteristics which make it a fighter which is fundamentally new in all respects.
"Our scientists, designers, engineers, and inventors have invested everything new, all the latest know-how of our military industry into this plane. This aircraft is unique in every way, from engines and armaments to avionics, defense and range," Baranets said, speaking to Russia's RIA Novosti.
Many experts rate the T-50 favorably against the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, which has faced a number of scandals over the plane's reliability and availability.
