A spokesperson for the Russian Pacific Fleet’s press service said Strelok harbor had purpose-built piers to accommodate warships, as well as the required technical infrastructure for servicing various military vessels.
The guided missile cruiser Moskva was moored near a pier alongside with the nuclear-powered heavy cruiser Pyotr Veliky (Peter the Great), the Varyag and other warships due to take part in an upcoming naval exercise in the Sea of Japan.
The Pyotr Veliky and the Moskva sailed together for a while enroute to Primorye. The crews of both cruisers conducted several joint exercises in the Indian Ocean, including with the involvement of ship-based helicopters.
A large-scale naval exercise involving much of the Pacific Fleet, as well as the heavy cruisers Pyotr Veliky and Moskva, which have arrived from Murmansk and Sevastopol, will be conducted in the Sea of Japan in June.
