WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Thursday, the international humanitarian group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), or Doctors Without Borders, said that at least 14 people were killed in an airstrike on the hospital in Aleppo.
“[Ban] encourages the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), in particular its two co-chairs, the Russian Federation and the United States of America, to exert pressure on all concerned to stop the fighting and to ensure credible investigations of incidents such as the attack on Al Quds hospital,” the statement said.
In the UN statement, Ban cited reports of at least 20 deaths, including three children and the area’s last remaining pediatrician.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups.
