LUGANSK (Sputnik) – Kiev’s constant postponement of holding local elections in the eastern regions of the country is not any use to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Kiev has less and less opportunities of avoiding the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, the leader of the self-proclaimed independent Lugansk People’s Republic said.
“There is some use of postponing [the elections]. Poroshenko’s slyness has become obvious to the world. The West has been forced to demand from him to fulfill the Minsk agreements. Now Kiev’s freedom for maneuvers is practically exhausted. Elections need to be held, or live in one skimpy Ukrainian budget without any loans. And in order to hold elections, then it’s necessary to agree on their procedure with [Kiev]. In any case, time is now on our side,” Igor Plotnitsky told RIA Novosti in an interview.
Moscow has repeatedly denied the allegations of involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and introduced countermeasures in August 2014, banning certain food product imports from the countries that imposed restrictions against Russia.
