BELGRADE (Sputnik) – Serbia is keen on developing economic cooperation with Russia in various spheres, the Serbian prime minister said Monday.
"He stressed that Serbia is ready to promote cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture and telecommunications, and added that Russian investments in all these areas are welcome," the Serbian government press service said, citing Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
Lavrov conveyed to the Serbian prime minister greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, paying tribute to the efforts made by Vucic to improve cooperation with Russia and contribute to positive trends in economic ties between Moscow and Belgrade, the statement stressed.
The statement cited Lavrov as saying that Russia would not interfere with Serbia’s internal affairs and that it was ready to search for balance in the states’ interests.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov started a two-day working visit to Serbia to meet senior officials, discuss bilateral relations and later take part in the 35th Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) ministerial meeting.
